Yes, it’s completely true that the state of Texas, located in the States (N. America) is about 1.2-1.3 times bigger than the country of France and it’s probably the most unknown fact about France.

Snail eaters

French people consume snails, not 25, not 250, not 2.500. But they consume over 25.000 tons of snails every year. The average resident of the French Republic consumes about 500 snails every year. Snails are often enjoyed in the warm or cold holidays of the year. 

Biggest Border

The biggest border doesn’t lie with Germany, Spain, Belgium, but with Brazil! Brazil a country so far away from France (about 8.600 kilometers) and located in the other Hemisphere has the biggest border. And how you may ask? French Guyana is still a colony of France and shares the biggest border with the huge country Brazil at about 730 kilometers.

Most timezones

As spoken in the previous topic, France has a colony called “French Guyana”, but France doesn’t only have this overseas territory. The country of France has a total of about 12 overseas territories, 13 if we include the “claims” to Antarctica. And yes in the whole world, France has the most timezones.

It is absolutely 100% true that supermarkets in the French Republic can’t throw away food that is of “best by date” , they must donate the food to a food bank or charity as per the law of 2016-2017. People are considering that more countries should implement this law in poorer countries like Madagascar or Haiti, where people have barely anything to eat. 

The largest art museum located in the country of France! 

The art museum called “Louvre Museum” in France has the interest of many since it holds masterpieces like the Mona Lisa by the genius Leonardo Da Vinci and pieces like Raft of the Medusa. And the “Louvre Museum currently holds the record of the biggest exhibited space taken and is the biggest museum in the world.

12 Million wine glasses are drunk each year

The people of the French Republic drink over 11 million wine glasses each year and hold currently the 2nd place in consumed wine glasses after the States. The States consumes about 30 hectoliters while France in the second place consumes about 27 hectoliters.
